Department of Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was founded in 1999 and is a first level clinical discipline that integrates clinical anesthesia, emergency resuscitation, pain treatment, teaching, and scientific research.

There are currently 46 anesthesiologists in the anesthesiology department, including 4 chief physicians and 12 deputy chief physicians; 10 anesthesia nurses and 99 operating room nurses; One full-time associate researcher. The backbone of the discipline has undergone clinical anesthesia training and learning in several well-known hospitals abroad.

As a leading department in the comprehensive strength of anesthesia in Shenzhen, the Department of Anesthesiology has excellent professional equipment and can provide comprehensive monitoring and treatment for critically ill patients during the perioperative period. The medical services of the department cover three major areas: clinical anesthesia, emergency resuscitation, and pain treatment. The annual completion of anesthesia in the operating room is nearly 40000 cases, including nearly 25000 cases of third and fourth level surgical anesthesia, which is at a leading level in Shenzhen. It has formed distinct clinical specialties in anesthesia for cardiac and vascular surgery, anesthesia for critically ill and elderly patients, anesthesia for neurosurgery, anesthesia for cerebrovascular intervention therapy, anesthesia for rare diseases, anesthesia and difficult airway management for oral and maxillofacial surgery, and treatment of acute pain during the perioperative period.

In the future, the anesthesia discipline will aim to lead the development of comfortable medical care, ensure medical safety, and improve overall hospital efficiency. It will strengthen the construction of intelligent anesthesia, continuously enhance the scientific and technological innovation capabilities of anesthesia discipline, and provide more effective, high-quality, and comfortable anesthesia medical services for the general public.
