The Emergency Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital is the earliest clinical department established in the hospital, founded in 1999. It has functional areas such as pre hospital emergency, emergency internal medicine, emergency surgery, emergency rescue room, emergency operating room, observation and infusion area, emergency ward, trauma ward, EICU, etc. It creates a "one-stop" emergency medical platform and creates a comprehensive emergency medical model that integrates pre hospital emergency, in-hospital emergency, and EICU. It focuses on the treatment of chest pain, stroke, trauma, poisoning, and other critical and difficult diseases, and comprehensively carries out various emergency medical work.
The emergency department is equipped with general monitoring ambulances, negative pressure ambulances, non-invasive and invasive ventilators, monitoring defibrillators, pacemakers, electrocardiographs, gastric lavage machines, B-ultrasound machines, bedside X-ray machines, mobile CT, ECMO, bedside continuous blood purification equipment, multifunctional monitors, bone marrow puncture needles, patient heating systems, and infusion pumps, among other emergency equipment. There are independent emergency testing rooms, emergency ultrasound rooms, emergency pharmacies, standard emergency operating rooms, and hybrid operating rooms.
Using the emergency department as a platform, a red zone rapid response green channel is set up to save lives for "acute stroke, chest pain treatment, trauma treatment, critically ill pregnant women, newborns and children". The business scope covers all diseases and skill operations in the field of emergency medicine. The department carries out advanced life support technology, POCT, CRRT, emergency ultrasound, PICCO, bronchoscopy, ECMO and other emergency operations, providing rapid and accurate integrated treatment for critically ill patients in the emergency department. In addition, specialized emergency departments such as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and otolaryngology have been established, mainly responsible for the rescue and diagnosis of a large number of outpatient and critical illnesses during non office hours of the hospital. The entire ward covers an area of over 3000 square meters, with 23 observation beds, 8 emergency EICU beds, 25 emergency wards, 1 standard operating room, 37 seated infusion units, 8 ambulances, more than 5000 ambulance visits per year, an annual emergency volume of over 180000 people, more than 10000 patient rescues per year, and more than 13000 trauma consultations per year.
The Emergency Department is a key discipline of advantageous medicine in Shenzhen, a training base for emergency treatment in Shenzhen, and a standardized training base for professional resident physicians in the Emergency Department. It undertakes emergency rescue and emergency treatment tasks for the public in the city. In addition to clinical practice, the Emergency Department also plays an active role in scientific research and teaching, conducting in-depth research in areas such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, severe pneumonia, poisoning, trauma, and animal injuries.
