Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery

The Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was formerly known as Laparoscopic Hepatobiliary Surgery, established in 2005, and was renamed Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery in June 2015.

The department currently has 68 open beds, an independent endoscopy room, and more than 40 medical and nursing staff, including 8 chief physicians, 4 deputy chief physicians, and 9 doctors; There are 2 deputy chief nurses and 10 chief nurses in the nursing team. Specialized nurses cover various fields such as intravenous therapy, nutrition, blood glucose management, endoscopy, and elderly care. They provide precise chemotherapy care for various liver, gallbladder, and pancreatic diseases during the perioperative period, ensuring comprehensive surgical safety.

Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery has over 30000 outpatient visits annually and performs 2500 various surgeries, including more than 200 cases of liver lobectomy, about 60 cases of pancreaticoduodenectomy, over 180 cases of laparoscopic liver resection, over 30 cases of laparoscopic pancreatic body and tail resection, and about 300 cases of ERCP related techniques (EST, ENBD, balloon dilation, stent implantation). Its comprehensive strength ranks among the top in Shenzhen. In October 2021, the department was approved to carry out da Vinci robotic surgery. Since 2017, our department has established contact and cooperation with the team of Academician Chen Xiaoping from Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, supported by three medical and health projects in Shenzhen. At present, the department has strong diagnostic and treatment capabilities in large-scale liver resection, laparoscopic liver resection, expanded pancreaticoduodenectomy including vascular reconstruction, laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy and pancreaticococcygeal resection, radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma, endoscopic treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases, etc.
