Pediatrics (including neonatology)

The Department of Pediatrics at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was established in 1999 and officially launched with the hospital's opening. It has long been responsible for the main medical treatment tasks for children in Shenzhen and surrounding areas. After more than 20 years of accumulation and dedicated development, pediatrics has become a comprehensive clinical department integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and rehabilitation, and is a key construction department of high-level hospitals.

The department currently has 27 doctors and 40 nursing staff. Among them, there are 9 chief physicians, 8 deputy chief physicians, 5 doctors, and 14 masters, all of whom come from national key medical colleges. There are three professors/associate professors in pediatrics. Many people in the department hold national academic positions in the institution, including one AHA pediatric basic and advanced life support training instructor from the United States.

The department has multiple advanced medical equipment worth nearly 10 million yuan, including 5 invasive ventilators, 20 non-invasive ventilators, a pediatric bronchoscope system, a pulmonary function system, a non-invasive hemodynamic monitor, a bedside ultrasound machine, a percutaneous carbon dioxide monitoring system, a NO inhalation therapy system, more than 30 infant incubators and multifunctional rescue stations, a giraffe warmer, a critically ill newborn transfer warmer, a medical teaching high fidelity simulation human teaching system, and a neonatal clean care unit.

At present, pediatrics has pediatric outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, and comprehensive wards. The ward includes a general pediatric ward, a neonatal ward, and a NICU ward, with a total of 72 beds. Our business scope covers the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric respiratory, neonatal, endocrine, neurological rehabilitation, cardiovascular, child care, hematological, renal, digestive, rheumatic, and other professional diseases. We offer multiple specialized clinics, including allergy/cough/asthma clinics, pediatric dwarfism/precocious puberty clinics, infantile hemangioma clinics, pediatric allergy nutrition clinics, pediatric health clinics, high-risk child follow-up clinics, and early identification of infant movement disorders through TIMP assessment clinics. Equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic methods such as pediatric bronchoscopy, pediatric lung function testing, allergen detection and desensitization treatment, precision treatment of allergic diseases and multidisciplinary cooperation, bone age determination, and pediatric rehabilitation. In addition to having a high level of diagnosis and treatment for common diseases in newborns, neonatal specialties also have a high level of treatment for critical illnesses such as extremely/ultra premature infants, ultra-low birth weight infants, neonatal asphyxia resuscitation, meconium aspiration syndrome, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, and neonatal severe hyperbilirubinemia.
