The Blood Transfusion Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital is a clinical medical technology department that integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. It is responsible for blood storage, testing, distribution, and management, as well as providing technical guidance and standardized management for clinical blood use. It solves difficult blood transfusion problems in clinical practice, cooperates with clinical blood transfusion treatment projects, and promotes modern blood transfusion knowledge.
The Blood Transfusion Department has a well structured team of technical talents, consisting of 8 transfusion medicine professionals, including 3 with senior professional titles, 3 with intermediate professional titles, and 2 with junior professional titles.
The transfusion department has a business area of over 600 square meters and is equipped with laboratories, blood dispensing rooms, blood storage rooms, autologous blood collection rooms, demonstration rooms, and teaching and research rooms. The equipment and instruments include various types of blood storage refrigerators, fully automatic blood type and matching systems, platelet constant temperature oscillation storage boxes, blood bank specific centrifuges, plasma melting instruments, TEG thromboelastography instruments, and cold chain temperature control systems. We mainly provide various blood products including red blood cell suspensions, washed red blood cells, frozen plasma, cryoprecipitate, machine collected platelets, and rare blood type frozen red blood cells.
The main business currently carried out by the department includes micro column agglutination method for ABO/RhD blood type identification, cross matching, irregular antibody screening, thromboelastography testing, and other projects, as well as storage based autologous blood transfusion, irradiated blood therapy, and therapeutic plasma exchange surgery. The compatibility testing level of blood transfusion in the department is accurate, and in the past 10 years, it has achieved full marks in the inter laboratory quality evaluation activities of the Clinical Laboratory Center of the National Health Commission.
